Koelnmesse, organizer of ORGATEC, one among the foremost renowned furniture fairs within the world, has decided to supend the 2020 edition.

Koelnmesse: “Although outstanding registration levels for the autumn events had already been achieved by spring 2020, and in spite of in depth preparations for the trade fair and therefore the #B-SAFE4business package of measures for coronavirus-compliant implementation of our trade fairs, things of this trade fair increasingly began to reflect current developments around Covid-19 and therefore the economic situation. In recent weeks, an outsized majority of exhibitors and trade visitors decided to not attend ORGATEC in any case (sources told Office Republic, all Dutch Exbihitors collectively withdrew their registrations last week, FS) . In light of this, Koelnmesse reassessed the general situation and decided that it had been best to reply to the cancellations and needs of an outsized number of industry exhibitors and trade visitors by not implementing ORGATEC 2020.

ORGATEC sets its sights on the longer term
The ORGATEC organisers, however, don’t want to be discouraged by this setback and immediately set their sights back on the longer term along side all of the trade fair participants within the sector, Koelnmesse is joining the industry in search of solutions to present the topics of ORGATEC at a world level within the coming months.

Together with industry, and under the rubric of events within the Koelnmesse furnishings portfolio, like imm cologne (18-24 January 2021), opportunities are being sought to understand formats developed with partners from the world – formats like Inspired Collaborations, the FRAME Architecture Congress or the Architektur+ Office space developed with AIT – as soon as possible during a new form. subsequent regularly scheduled ORGATEC will then be held from 25 to 29 October 2022 in Cologne, within the accustomed size and level of internationality.
